Working with Text in Python

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 1:00pm to 2:30pm EDT

Interested in working with newspapers, interviews, social media posts, or other text data? If you’re working with a large collection of text, computational text analysis can help you answer your research questions. In this workshop, we will explore how research questions translate to text analysis methods, such as word frequencies, topic modeling, and sentiment analysis. We will also go over how to use AI endpoints to programmatically make AI calls. This workshop assumes attendees have some familiarity with Python. Need a Python primer? check out our Python Crash Courses page

This workshop is offered by the University Libraries and will be led by librarians Lorin Bruckner and Rolando Rodriguez

This workshop is being offered remotely via Zoom only. Registrants will receive a Zoom link; those on the waitlist will not receive a Zoom link unless they are bumped up to a registered spot. After the workshop, registrants and those on the waitlist will receive a link to the workshop recording. You can register on the University Libraries calendar: https://calendar.lib.unc.edu/event/16022565
