The 2025 Black History Event, hosted by The Friday Center, features "The Talk," a powerful one-man play by Dr. Sonny Kelly, founder of Legacy Heirs Productions. Inspired by his conversation with his son after the tragic deaths of Trayvon Martin and Freddie Gray, The Talk combines theater, poetry, storytelling, and multimedia to explore the African American experience. Dr. Kelly portrays over twenty characters, weaving together stories that span generations while reflecting on history, humanity, and the challenges of today. The performance promotes healing, unity, and understanding through its deeply personal and universal message. This event is open to all and is part of the Friday Center’s ongoing commitment to honoring Black History Month by amplifying African American voices and fostering lifelong learning.
