Please join the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise for “An Economist’s Guide to Immigration Reform,” a talk by Kenan Institute Distinguished Fellow Tara Watson, professor of economics at Williams College.

The hourlong event will take place at 12:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, April 11, in Kenan Center Room 204.

Immigration is one of the most contentious policy issues, and Congress has failed to make any significant legislative progress in decades. The result is an incoherent policy landscape and significant operational challenges on the ground. At the same time, immigration and immigrant integration remain critical to future U.S. workforce growth, innovation and government fiscal solvency. Watson will discuss the key findings from the economics literature and their implications for where to focus immigration reform efforts.

The talk is free and open to the public but registration is required, as lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Watson is a member of the 2023 class of Kenan Institute Distinguished Fellows, which supported the institute’s 2023 grand challenge, Workforce Disrupted: Seeking the Labor Market’s Next Equilibrium. Her talk was postponed from its original date of Aug. 30. Registrants for the original date should re-register for the April 11 event.
