 orne\, a statistics professor from NCSU\, to discuss his recent research i
 n baseball analytics. Jason will present his research from 5PM to 6PM in M
 urray Hall G202 on November 17\, 2025.\n\n \n\nIn this talk\, Jason demons
 trates how he used generalized linear models for home run frequencies at M
 LB ballparks\, adjusted for differences in personnel\, and made statistica
 l comparisons among ballparks.\n\n \n\nBio of Jason:\n\nJason Osborne is P
 rofessor in the Department of Statistics\, at North Carolina State Univers
 ity\, which he joined in 2001. Most of that time he held the position of c
 onsulting faculty\, designing experiments and analyzing data for faculty a
 nd students in the Life Sciences\, leading to over 100 coauthored publicat
 ions. He now focuses on applications in Sports Analytics. Recent projects 
 include field goal kicking in the NFL\, regional effects on scheduling in 
 the NBA and NHL\, causal inference for the effect of the intentional walk 
 and a shiny app to inform decision-making in baseball.
