Being a mother encompasses healing, change, and understanding. The goal of our fashion show, “MOTHERing,” acknowledges the power of the title in a literal sense, as well as embracing the metaphorical use of the term, as it has made its way into the queer community and has been sustained for years. Now, more than ever, we must amplify the voices empowered by queerness and demonstrate the amount of care, thoughtfulness, and acceptance that has been shared by the LGBTQ+ community. This show will be a celebration of drag culture, honoring a famous mother, designer, ballroom performer & New York native, Dorian Corey, for their contributions to the attitude in the ballroom space. We will open our space for showing more than telling, to display the glorious craftsmanship, creative quality and exuberant energy that is projected and protected by drag. The Xpressions production will showcase two parts: traditional drag and modern camp, offering something equally visually compelling and hysterical.
