Modernextension is a student-run modern and contemporary dance company at UNC. Through our company, our members are provided with a creative outlet and a supportive community in which they can improve their modern dance technique, performance, improvisation, and choreographic skills.  Our company is lucky enough to bring in talented guest teachers from the community each year.  Working with guest instructors gives our dancers the chance to be challenged and grow as technicians and performers. Our dancers are also able to perform in two shows per school year, one being an improvisation show and the other being a showcase of student choreography. The fall improvisation show is incredibly important to our dancers, as improvisation is the foundation of our company. The improvisation show consists of various “structures” in which dancers create their own movement on the spot. We are so incredibly excited to display our hard work and share our love for dance!
