 Enacting Radical Futures Beyond Survival Mode\, an artist talk by hazel ba
 trezchavez”\n\n \n\nhazel batrezchavez is a brown queer artist and educa
 tor. Their textiles\, performance\, and sculptural works are rooted in the
  politics of survival and the poetics of movement.\n\n \n\nbatrezchavez’
 s work has been exhibited at El Paso Museum of Art (TX)\, Santa Fe Art Ins
 titute (NM)\, Loom Indigenous Gallery (NM)\, Southern Exposure (CA)\, SOMA
  (MX)\, Radford Museum of Art (VA)\, ICOSA Collective (TX)\, Higher Art Ga
 llery (MI) among many others. batrezchavez received their BFA in Anthropol
 ogy and Studio Art from Grinnell College and their MFA in Sculpture from t
 he University of New Mexico.\n\n \n\nhazel batrezchavez (Stolen Land\, b. 
 1994) descends from the Nauhua\, Lenca\, and Mayan peoples of Kuskatán (E
 l Salvador) and Tamaulipas\, Mexico. Currently\, they live and work as an 
 artist and educator in Tiwa\, Tewa\, and Pueblo Territory (Albuquerque\, N
 M). They are a founding member of the fronteristxs Collective and Granadin
 a Co-op.\n\n \n\nHanes Visiting Artist Lecture Series 2024-2025: The Rage 
 of Wildness: Radical Futures. This lecture series will highlight artists c
 reating dialogues and radical gestures that envision a future beyond colon
 ial thinking. We will explore practices that operate in a mode of unknowin
 g\, decoloniality\, resistance to dominant ontologies\, disruption of impo
 sed order\, engagement with indigeneity\, queerness\, and ecological persp
 ectives.\n\n \n\nAn endowment established in 1983 through the generosity o
 f Nancy and Robin Hanes supports the Art Department's Visiting Artist Seri
 es. This important program brings both established and emerging artists to
  campus to discuss their work in public lectures and to offer individual c
 ritiques to our M.F.A. students.  The Hanes Visiting Artist series greatly
  enriches both our academic programs and our outreach to the wider communi
 ty.  All lectures are free and open to the public.\n\n \n\nA weeknight or 
 daytime permit is now required after 5:00 pm on weekdays. No permit is req
 uired from 5:00 pm Friday through 7:30 am Monday. A $1.00 one-night pass i
