Dr. Chuck Perou is the May Goldman Shaw Distinguished Professor of Molecular Oncology in the UNC Department of Genetics. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Computational Medicine Program, Faculty Director of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) Bioinformatics Group, and the Co-Leader of the LCCC Breast Cancer Research Program. Dr. Perou has co-founded several genomics-based biotechnology companies, including Bioclassifier.

This company commercialized his groundbreaking research on the molecular subtypes of breast cancers into Prosigna, a clinically validated and FDA approved test. Prosigna helps physicians make informed decisions about cancer treatment, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
