About this Event
150 South Road, Chapel Hill, NC
https://civiclife.unc.edu/event-2026-constitution-day.htmlWhen the thirteen colonies declared independence, the new United States of America faced a central question: how could it create a strong executive without a king? In honor of Constitution Day, the Program for Public Discourse and the UNC School of Law will host a panel discussion on the U.S. Constitution and executive power. Moderated by Suzanne Globetti (UNC), Michael Gerhardt (UNC) and Saikrishna Prakash (UVA) will discuss the powers the Constitution granted the president and what they mean today.
September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day (Constitution Day). This day commemorates the September 17, 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution.
Students who attend in person can earn CLE credit. No tickets are necessary; seating is first-come, first-served. Reserved tickets are available for guests traveling from outside Chapel Hill. Please email publicdiscourse@unc.edu to reserve seats. We will serve pizza after the event.
