Extending his previous lecture in which he discussed the petrochemical corridor—"Cancer Alley"—in Louisiana, in "Air and Spirit," Crawley will discuss the polluting and degreding of air. This occurs with various chemicals released into various atmospheres, but also with cloud storage facilities and artificial intelligence processing. Architectures must be considered when thinking about environmental impacts of these industries. Someone designed the buildings that process machine learning capabilities and cloud storage units. Someone designed the landscape too. Lastly, Crawley will explore art practices that can illuminate these processes, and also give us a way to breathe against industrial harm.
