Are you interested in learning about text analysis but have little to no experience with programming languages or writing code? This short course will introduce you to multiple text analysis methods. We will examine real-world examples and engage in hands-on activities that don’t require running any code. These short courses are ideal for students and researchers in non-technical fields, faculty who would like to incorporate text analysis in their curriculum, or as a precursor to programming with text analysis tools.

A Gentle Introduction to Text Analysis will cover both qualitative and quantitative text analysis methods, bag-of-words techniques, classification, named entity recognition, and sentiment analysis. Please be sure to download the appropriate materials before the workshop as described here. If you run into any issues, contact Lorin Bruckner for assistance.
